THE YOUTH AND THEIR REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
Youth and their reproductive health is a big health issue that must be handle with all seriousness, adolescence as we know is a period of dynamic change that means transition from childhood to adulthood and this is experienced differently in every society. Different world health organistations are making frantic effort to make sure that youth reproductive health is sound one. Most young people start having sex before age 20, and many consequently become pregnant and have children, or many undergo abortion and as a result led to death in some instances.
there is also the risk of HIV/AIDs and other sexually transmitted infection
To protect yourself from HIV/AIDs, an emphasis on dual protection, condom use, and abstinence especially for unmarried youth is an effective way to address the risk of unwanted pregnancy and HIV/AIDs.
There are factors that come into play when you are talking about reproductive health, one is contraception.
There is what is called emergency contraception. It refers to contraceptive methods that can be used safely by women to prevent unwanted pregnancy in the first few days after unprotected intercourse. Though it does not protect against HIV/AIDs or STI, so sexually active young people still need to use condom regularly .
other factors in youth reproductive health is when youth are connected to a religious organisation, it influences thier sexual life. There should be program for youth in those organisation to educate the youth on a better sexual life. this should also help the youth examine their traditional gender roles and make better decisions about what kind of relationship they want to be in, who and when to marry, how much education they want to achieve and how soon they want to have children. There are sexually transmitted disease which if untreated may lead to less immunity against HIV/AIDS
